Treating anxiety can be confusing and overwhelming with all of today’s available treatments. I myself, suffering from anxiety and depression for 20 years have tried several including in-house clinical treatments. However, as time prevailed the effects of treatment soon dissolved. Finding relief needs a combination of several approaches. Formulating these to calm your disorder is key to a peaceful and productive life. If you have conditions of severe anxiety and episodes of paralyzing panic attacks you should consult a psychiatrist immediately. For those with mild disorders, a combination of behavioral, literary therapy, natural herbs, and prescribed medications will produce astonishing effects.
Behavioral and cognitive therapies are commonly the first approaches to anxiety. First you will be interviewed and diagnosed by a psychologist to determine your level of disorder. Once this process is completed, a psychiatrist may suggest further diagnosis by a psychiatrist which can prescribe medications. If your condition does not require medication, your therapist will then start methods of psychotherapy and counseling. Included in this counseling is a very effective method of literary therapy. This therapy is conducted with the use of books that promote strong self image and willpower. I have found these books to help surprisingly well and sometimes better than medication. Building your willpower and thought realizing thought patterns is your strongest line of defense against this disorder. Half the battle is stopping yourself from feeling like a victim and letting yourself further build on negative thoughts. Were all in this life together, so lets not take it too seriously.
In addition to behavioral and literary therapy is the use of natural herbs. These herbs help promote positive moods and knock down the anxiety a few notches. Such natural approaches are St. John’s Wort, Rhodiola Rosea, and Valerian Root. There are many more, but these are the ones I have used and do recommend. I have found that St. Johns Wort works the best and still use it to this day. Diet and exercise is your next greatest defense to how you feel. This doesn’t need much explanation as we are bombarded everyday on these two health issues.
Anxiety therapies that require prescribed medication should be done under the guidance of an expert only. To summarize, a combination of behavioral, literary, herbal, and balanced diet will have dramatic impacts to tame this disorder. Don’t let this disorder make you a victim, start fighting back with these methods.
